TUCSON- "NIGHTFALL at Old Tucson" a local October/Halloween staple is back this year with "NIGHTFALL: REIGN OF TERROR": 20+ acres of haunts, mazes, shows, and attractions just 15 minutes from Tucson, AZ!
We spoke briefly with a representative about what new additions fans can expect when they come through to partake this year.
"I'm glad you asked! This year, one year after returning from death, Mary Hyde is fully realized in terrifying, new form as the Demon Queen of Nightfall! Now possessing the power to summon demons from the underworld, Queen Mary is building a terrifying army. Fans new and old will experience "Dabne's Funhouse" where Clowns have taken over The Wolves’ Den. Queen Mary has appointed Dabne the Clown as Nightfall’s Minister of Entertainment! Then there's "Hell's Gate", where Queen Mary has opened a portal to the underworld through which to summon demons to her service! And...well...This is one we hope to get people really talking: "Debra, the-customer-at-the-restaurant-you-worked-at-8-years-ago-still-waiting-for-you-to-bring-her-the-extra-ranch-dressing-she-asked-for."
We sat back aghast when they revealed this new information and asked them to explain their decision to bring on Debra.
"Well, all of us here at Nightfall obviously love anything and everything horror and we wanted to put extra emphasis on the psychological and deeply universal terrors that strike at the human condition. Things that scrape at the bottom of our souls significantly more than a bloodthirsty werewolf chomping at your heels or a zombie trying to pry your head open. We conducted several studies on regular Tucson folks and learned that a dormant, subconscious black hole still lingers in those who are or used to be in the restaurant service industry. Restaurant service is the nation's second-largest private sector employer and we knew it was worth exploring the dark anguish that comes with ineptitude, doomed idealism and not living up to one's own potential when nightmare customers expect the world from you. "Debra" is the one that wakes you up at 4 a.m. gasping for air. "Debra" is the one who you failed. "Debra" never forgives and never forgets. "Debra" would still like to speak to your manager. Come to NIGHTFALL at Old Tucson this year if you truly want to stare into the abyss."
We stood silently for what seemed like an eternity before thanking them for their time and guest passes. We will update our Tucson Times News readers with our review of NIGHTFALL should we decide to go.
